Q: Will the 2020 June Professional Development Conference be held?

A: As of April 21st, the 2020 June Professional Development Conference will be held as a virtual event.  The conference will start with a ‘kick-off’ session on Monday June 22nd and all sessions will be hosted and recorded.

Q: What will happen if the June Conference cannot be held during the original dates?

A: NYAAE Leadership has decided to host the June Conference as a virtual event due to the continued ban on public gatherings of any size. Workshop sessions will be hosted “LIVE” starting on June 22nd and running through June 30th.

Q: If I have not paid for my conference registration yet, what should I do?

A: Prior to April 30th, any person who was already registered for the NYAAE event will receive an e-mail that will explain the process to move forward with payment.  The cost of hosting a virtual event is significantly different than an in-person conference so the e-mail will also include information regarding the finances for the event.

Q: In the event that the NYAAE Conference format is changed or cancelled, how will registrants be reimbursed?

A: Since the NYAAE Conference has been moved to a virtual format, we will reevaluate the cost of the conference and partial reimbursements will be processed prior to June 30th, 2020.

Q: What is the cost for the NYAAE Virtual Conference?

A: The cost of the NYAAE Virtual Conference is $75 for current NYAAE members; $50 for pre-service teachers; and $100 for all other agriculture teachers.  Please see our newly revised Conference Brochure for more information on the cost and registration process.

Q: Who can I contact if I have questions?

A: You can always reach out to Kaylie Siddall (ksiddall@cornell.edu) or Catie Rowe (cmr323@cornell.edu) for any questions that you may have.

Q: Will the 2020 June Professional Development Conference be held?

A: Due to the continued ban on public gatherings of any size and based on recommendations from local and state health officials, the NYAAE leadership has decided that the 2020 June Conference will be a virtual event.  The conference will start with a ‘kick-off’ session on Monday June 22nd and all sessions will be hosted virtually and recorded. A newly revised Virtual Conference Schedule with additional and updated information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Q: What is the cost for the NYAAE Virtual Conference and what does this include?

A: The cost of the NYAAE Virtual Conference will be $75 for current NYAAE members; $50 for pre-service teachers; and $120 for all other agriculture teachers.  The $75 conference registration will provide up to 20 hours of CTLE credit for any teacher that completes the workshop sessions before July 31st; and a conference-in-a-box sent to each participant. Additionally, due to the extenuating circumstances related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, any New York Agricultural Educator or pre-service teacher who registers for the  NYAAE Virtual Summer Conference and attends at least one session, will receive a free membership to the NYAAE and NAAE organizations for the upcoming year (2020-2021).  This free membership is sponsored by the New York Association of Agricultural Educators.

Q: I am registered for the conference but have not paid my invoice, what should I do?

A: Prior to April 30th, any person already registered for the NYAAE event will receive an e-mail that will explain the process to move forward with payment of the conference fee.

Q: Since the NYAAE Conference registration fee has changed, how will registrants be reimbursed?

A: We will issue partial reimbursements prior to June 30th, 2020 to the payment remitter.

A: It is the current plan (as of 3/16/2020) to hold the 2020 June Professional Development Conference as scheduled. This will be reevaluated no later than April 22, 2020 to decide if this will be a 3-day or 1-day conference. No later than May 22nd, we will determine if we will have an in person or virtual conference. Please bear with us as we navigate these unprecedented times.

Q: What will happen if the June Conference cannot be held during the original dates?

A: NYAAE will explore a one-day event with a business session and Awards Banquet OR sessions will be held as a one-day virtual conference with select sessions either being taught live or from recordings.

Q: What is the plan if the June Conference IS cancelled?

A: In the event of a total cancellation of the 2020 NYAAE June Conference, a business session and Awards Banquet will still need to take place. The business session (including elections and constitutional changes) will be hosted virtually. For award winners, each award will be sent to the Superintendent or Board of Education of their respective schools to be presented to the teacher in front of their colleagues and school community.

Q: If I have not paid for my conference registration yet, what should I do?

A: If your school is paying, when your school is back in session, please continue to remind your school business office to remit payment for the Conference. If you are paying for your conference registration, please remit payment as soon as possible. See the next question for how reimbursements will be distributed, if necessary.

Q: In the event that the NYAAE Conference format is changed or cancelled, how will registrants be reimbursed?

A: In the event that the NYAAE Conference is cancelled and moved to a virtual format, we will begin processing reimbursements for schools that have already paid on May 22nd, 2020. If the conference format is changed or shortened, the cost will be reevaluated and partial reimbursements will be processed prior to June 30th, 2020.

Q: Who can I contact if I have questions?

A: You can always reach out to Kaylie Siddall (ksiddall@cornell.edu) or Catie Rowe (cmr323@cornell.edu) for any questions that you may have.
